The Angels Roar for Christ Our King

Songs get me. And certain songs, forget it. I can barely listen without everything in me welling up, making me want to sing at the top of my lungs with my hands lifted straight up in the air.

My husband introduced a new song by Hillsong some weeks back at our church and I fell in love with it. It is one of those songs where, I feel like I am listening to it here on earth, and the angels are simultaneously singing it to Jesus' face in heaven. A 'Heaven Song' is what I call it. {I've written about other heaven songs here.}

The lyrics tell the story of Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection and they go like this:

I cast my mind to Calvary
Where Jesus bled and died for me.
I see His wounds,His hands, His feet.
My Saviour on that cursed tree

His body bound and drenched in tears
They laid Him down in Joseph's tomb.
The entrance sealed by heavy stone
Messiah still and all alone

O praise the name of the Lord our God
O praise His name forever more
For endless days we will sing Your praise
Oh Lord, oh Lord our God

And then on the third at break of dawn,
The Son of heaven rose again.
O trampled death where is your sting?
The angels roar for Christ our King

O praise the name of the Lord our God
O praise His name forever more
For endless days we will sing Your praise
Oh Lord, oh Lord our God

He shall return in robes of white,
The blazing Son shall pierce the night.
And I will rise among the saints,
My gaze transfixed on Jesus' face

O praise the name of the Lord our God
O praise His name forever more
For endless days we will sing Your praise
Oh Lord, oh Lord our God
Oh Lord, oh Lord our God
Oh Lord, oh Lord our God

There are three lines that hit me hard:

1) 'The Angels Roar for Christ Our King'

Can you imagine the celebration in heaven when Jesus rose from the grave? It was most likely the best party ever!

2) 'And I will Rise Among the Saints, My Gaze Transfixed on Jesus Face.'

I wonder what it will really be like to see Jesus face to face. No doubt my gaze will be transfixed on the face of the one who died to save me..... or I will be looking at the ground because I will have fallen on my face. Either way, to see Him in person, the one I have strived so hard to have faith in without seeing, to finally see Him, oh what a day.

3) 'O Lord, oh Lord our God'

It's like after all of that praising I get to say, "He's my Lord and my God" and it sends a wave of gratitude over my soul.
