'And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, or sorrow, or crying. There will be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.'
Can you even imagine such a place? Not a single reason to be sad. No grief, no loss of property, finances, or friends. No sickness, no remorse or disappointment. No pain of any kind.
In thinking about today, a song came to mind. I remembered I had written about this song before on a previous blog, and I resolved to peek and see what I wrote years ago. I was not prepared for what I found. I recorded my thoughts about the song below, on the day I discovered we were not going to be able to keep our fourth baby here with us on earth.
The pain like an ocean swept over me afresh in reading about that grusome day. After taking a moment to grieve again, I rested my thoughts on how faithfully the Lord has cared for us during other arduous times. I thought through how blessed we are to have had three beautiful healthy babies and almost one more. And then, I remembered the verse above. There will be a day when we will never shed another tear ever because there will be no reason. 'Oh what a day a glorious day that will be.'
Jesus, Thank you for this picture of what is to come. Please help us not to become bogged down by distractions or things that don't matter to you, but instead enable us with the rest of our time on earth to further your kingdom. Empower us to live for the joy that is to come and to actively look for the ways we can give thanks to you today. You have blessed us far more than we ever deserved, for you have given us salvation. Thank you for the unimaginable place we will share together forever. We love you. Amen.
